THE ELITIST GATE:

SAFEGUARDING THE CAPITOL BUILDING FOR THE RICH AND POWERFUL

The Elitist Gate is a monument that will be located right in front of the Capitol Building. This gate is a satirical piece based on the idea that representatives in Congress are supposed to advocate on behalf of the public, however, in reality, they are so heavily influenced by the rich that legislation is created based on interests of the rich. The use of gold and the cite being on the National Mall are a part of the satirical aspects of the piece because a gold monument in the middle of the nation's capital would be very opulent and out of place. This relates to the main argument that the rich are out of line and should leave politics in the hands of the representatives that the public elected. The National Mall also provides a satirical aspect because it is supposed to be an area with museums for learning and for the average American and tourist, but instead, the Elitist Gate adds a sense of corruption and extravagance that contradicts the American values displayed through the other monuments and museums on the National Mall. The Elitist Gate would block the public from reaching the Capitol Building, just as the rich have prevented the voices of the general public from being heard.
